Even with how much I love working with computers, it has been my ambition since 10 years old, this picture is from one of the most favorite jobs I ever had.
I was manning the Water Patrol unit of the City Water Light & Power security department. It was the very first job I landed after I came home from the Army. I basically got paid to drive a boat around all day on Lake Springfield making sure the public boaters were obeying the rules.
It’s too bad in only lasted 1 summer before I moved on to bigger and better things. I left this job to go to work at the State Capital for the House of Representatives on Speaker of the House Mike Madigan’s staff. I wonder if Lisa still remembers me?

I spent the weekend working in Milton WI upgrading a 20 workstation data entry facility. They went from 486 DOS terminals booting from a Novell 2.0 server to all Windows XP machines on a 2003 domain. I also installed the Cat5 Ethernet network to replace the BNC network.
The trickiest part was getting the 20 year old custom Gemidex database software moved from the “older” then dirt Novell server to the new server. The mission was accomplished.

I had a side job this weekend at an engineering firm in Oakbrook. Configuring a network, servers, workstations, and such.
These engineers sure do have nice tools. Fat servers and fast Dells with big flat screens.
Here’s a new setup I was working on with dual 21″ monitors. That CAD is a pig of an application, but works great at this joint.
Sweet.

Here’s a match affix production machine that I provide the computer technical support for. Part tinker toy, part erector set, and part Lego Mindstorm.
