The Dead Goat Saloon was a great place to meet some cool cats. It was Utah’s Whiskey a Go Go. The ambiance of this place was huge and steeped in history. They had a Gazillion pics of famous patrons on the walls. I learned a great deal about Utah and the Mormon state below, around, and beyond the Jesus Disneyland just 1 block away. LDS is very cultish.
I was saddened to learn that shortly after I left, this old joint had been briefly turned into a strip club before being closed for good. At least the light went out with a flash. A Roadhouse so close was bad enough, but naked women and beer must have really steamed the Elders.
Every once in awhile I cruise the Shures Network looking for any errors or problems. I did some edits tonight and ran across recordings I made in Salt Lake City. I had forgoton about these and also how much it means to me to have them.
In this one, my recorder was left rolling during a call I took. The guys improvised during it. The studio chatter brings back a lot of memories. If you turn it up and listen closely, you will hear it all. I used a digital multi-tracker.
