Cisco 861W Router
Today I purchased my Cisco 861W router. It’s got wireless 802.11n and the full Cisco advanced security IOS.
This new piece of equipment serves me 2 purposes -
It’s a tremendous lab tool for learning advanced Cisco programming. It fully supports all the features of the newest Cisco IOS. While there are simulators available, there is nothing as good as having real equipment to work with.
It will also upgrade my current network to support the faster wireless n specification to enable wireless HD streaming. At best, the normal G-Band airwaves are not quite up to the task and they are also becoming extremely saturated with neighbor signals causing interference.
I also picked up a jacket from Cisco . I needed a new coat and thought this goes nicely with the new router. It’s my favorite style, color, and the logo definitely gets cool points by me.
It’s cruising.
