So we were checking out the local Halloween super store, my daughter loves to go and press all the buttons, and she puts on these glasses and says Sharonnnnn…. Sharonnnnn…
Deja Vu. Recently one of my Facebook friends took a picture of his daughter wearing round glasses talking about Ozzy. My comment on his post… Sharonnnnn…
Most people get the Ozzy Osbourne reference but my 7 year old has never see his reality show, heard his music, or even has any idea who he is. She also didn’t see that FB post.
It’s odd how sometimes certain parallel events seem to happen that coincide but are not inter-related. Makes me think hmmmmm.
Come to find out, on the TV show she saw Hannah Montana’s brother put on a pair of these glasses and say Sharonnnnn…

My daughter and I took a day trip to the Chicago Brookfield Zoo. Before our upcoming big trip, we’re filling up her spring break days with local activities. More pictures from the day are posted in The Shures photo gallery.
Here’s our expense report.
Parking – $9.00
Admission – $23.00
Motor Safari – $6.50
Lunch – $14.50
Ice Cream – $4.50
Total : $51.00
For $91 dollars, I should have bought a family pass. With it, parking and admission are free. Also discounts on food and other stuff.

Her class was divided into two groups of 12 each performing the “3 Little Pigs” play. Since the 2nd play’s girl was out early for spring break, my daughter got to do her part in the play twice. She played the Mother pig in the story.
More pictures from the play are in The Shures photo gallery.

My daughter’s week of fame at her school. This award is really not that big of a deal. At her age, everyone gets a turn. But in her grade, she is one of the smartest students.

My daughter went to what I consider to be one of the best pre-school in our area. It wasn’t the most expensive, but it was attached to a church. We took this picture and made this frame on Daughter/Daddy day at the school.
I recall this day vividly. It was right during the time that the disc blew out in my neck. The very next month in October, I was having spinal surgery. The following month after, more trouble.
The $32,000 titanium plate and screws I now have inside me still seems to be working OK. I’m a bionic man; better, stronger, faster. Knock on wood. I also have a little cadaver part in me. I hope it was a Captain.

My daughter lost another tooth today. It was the front top central incisor. A PBJ did the trick to free that little wiggler. It won’t be long until that other wiggler next to it also comes out.

Today we made 2 trips to two different dentists. Attempt #1 of baby tooth extraction failed. My daughter made it through the numbing OK. But when it came time to pull, she had a meltdown.
While he’s good with me, my dentist did the right thing and referred my daughter to a pediatric dentist. He passed my ‘take care of my daughter’ test. The only thing he could have done better is refer us right off the bat before trying himself.
My daughter did much better at the new dentist. But we’ll have to wait to see how next Tuesday goes for again trying to pull that tooth.

I took my daughter for her 2nd time skating and she’s picking it up well. I think she likes it. She and I both agree that it’s a good birthday party place to be invited to.
Growing up. I never remember skating at the roller rink. But I did have friends who had the best skates and did it all the time. I’m thinking about trying it myself. It’s seems like it could be a good Daddy/Daughter activity. I ski well, so I think that may help. But I’m a little apprehensive about feet & wheels. This one time in the 3rd grade, I broke my wrist skateboarding.
I also recently slammed my tail bone getting airborne sledding last Dec. Somewhere between holding on to my daughter and launching off a ramp on plastic, I rediscovered gravity. One time down and it still hurts 4 months later. But it was one heck of a fun bump run.
