Chicago Ridgefest - Ted Nugent

Ted Nugent

The Motor City Madman was in Chicago.

I saw Ted tonight at the Ridgefest. It was just what the Doctor ordered. He started early at 8:00PM, instead of the scheduled 9:00PM, and played for about 1.5 hours. It was a great show with a huge nuge crowd.

Nugent has lost none of his guitar playing chops, but he doesn’t jump around the stage anymore the way that he used to. I guess everyone gets old.

Watching Ted on T.V. is just not the same as seeing him live, they have to edit out too much from his rants. My favorite quotes of his from the evening are…

“Everyone should buy machine guns… buy them for your children…” and “This is the United States… we kill kings, dictators, and tyrants” and last but not least “F**k Mayor Daley”

Just What The Dr. Ordered

My cousin and I on the 4-Wheelers.

My cousin and I took his 4-wheelers out today for a little trail riding fun.

There’s a great abandoned railroad strip of land that starts right at his house and stretches for miles. All the tracks are gone and it’s just trails now. The weather conditions were a little rough, so we only did about 2 1/2 hour’s total riding.

The night before, they had just had an ice storm and it was melting off the trees, getting us wet, and making us cold. Although the ice did look beautiful on everything along the trail.

Since I haven’t ridden one of these in years and years, I found the ride challenging and fun. There were some pretty hairy sections. But I was still able to remember from my youth, when in doubt, shift down and give it gas!

I had a great time and can’t wait to go back and do it again. Next time with Brian. Snow would have been cool and dryer.

Satellite map of the trails.
