Aveo Trailer Hitch Installed

Today I installed a Class I trailer hitch on my Chevy Aveo. I purchased it from etrailer.com for $137.20. Installation was a snap. 3 big bolts and it was done. It couldn’t have been any easier.
Being a Class I, it doesn’t have much towing capacity. Only 2000 pounds. But that is more than enough to haul a dirt bike and supplies around the country.
I’m continuing forward with the Jimmy Buffet Plan. Next stop South Padre…

Would this void your warranty? Is the Aveo rated for towing?I would keep the trailer, and load as small as possible. I am thinking of buying a second Aveo, and would like to pull a trailer also.

The hitch may void the Aveo warranty but being able to tow is worth it to me. My 3 year bummper to bummper coverage is up next month so I’m not too concerned.
I’m just towing a small motorcycle trailer. The Aveo tows it just fine without any strain on the engine.

I can report that I took the Aveo in for some minor warranty repairs and no mention was made of the hitch. But my repairs did not involve the engine / transmission being damaged or anything that could have been attributed to the installed hitch.
For the long run 100,000 power train warranty, I would consider it null and void if you blow up your Aveo by towing with it.
